Enhancing specific energy absorption of additively manufactured titanium lattice structures through simultaneous manipulation of architecture and constituent material

چکیده
Titanium lattice structures have found a wide range of lightweight applications. However, made from the commonly-used commercially pure titanium (CP−Ti) and Ti−6Al−4V exhibit either low strength or post-yielding softening/collapse under uniaxial compression, making them less attractive to energy absorbing In present work, series gyroid been designed additively manufactured by laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) enhance specific absorption (SEA) through manipulation architecture constituent material. Experimental results show that tailoring sheet thickness gradient enables transformation macroscopic deformation mode hardening followed softening, which is commonly seen in structures, continuous hardening. The addition MgO nanoparticles CP−Ti feedstock further improves yield oxygen solute strengthening, while maintaining behaviour without any softening collapse. As result, when both are introduced, SEA uniform structure enhanced approximately 63% due combination high strength. Finite element analysis based on modified volumetric model has performed shed light underlying mechanism governs behaviour. This study demonstrates tremendous potential marrying engineering with material design create performance L-PBF.

Homogenization of material properties in additively manufactured structures
Additive manufacturing transforms material into three-dimensional parts incrementally, layer by layer or path by path. Subject to the build direction and machine resolution, an additively manufactured part deviates from its design model in terms of both geometry and mechanical performance. In particular, the material inside the fabricated part often exhibits spatially varying material distribut...

Recent progress in additive manufacturing allows for printing customized products with multiple materials and complex geometries. Effectively designing such complex products for optimal performance within the confines of additive manufacturing constraints is challenging, due to the large number of variables in the search space and uncertainties about how the manufacturing processes affect fabri...

15 صفحه اولEnhancing the Structural Performance of Additively Manufactured Objects Through Build Orientation Optimization
Additively manufactured objects often exhibit directional dependencies in their structure due to the layered nature of the printing process. While this dependency has a significant impact the object’s functional performance, the problem of finding the best build orientation to maximize structural robustness remains largely unsolved. We introduce an optimization algorithm that addresses this iss...
